Black Eyed Peas surprised fans by staging a last-minute concert in New York last night, which saw the arrival of 10,000 people.
The show was held at Times Square on Wednesday evening (March 10) to launch a new Samsung 3D TV.
Police were concerned that too many fans would turn up so they almost canceled the show - until Black Eyed Peas agreed to keep news of the one-off concert secret until the eleventh hour - and still thousands flocked to watch the group.
The 'Meet Me Halfway' hitmakers then announced the free show via Twitter and on Will.i.am's DipDive site, just 30 minutes before the gig went ahead.
"We weren't able to promote the concert up until 30 minutes before the show." Will.i.am said today.
"So on DipDive and Twitter, we sent out the message that we were performing in the location and in 30 minutes, 10,000 people popped up.
"That showed us the power of the new world, communication, technology."
